C-Notes is a collaborative assessment process designed to help students review and learn from their test performance, similar to CrissCross. As with CrissCross, students first complete the assessment individually. They are then grouped with classmates who had similar results. Teams work together to revisit the assessment, discuss their reasoning, and correct misunderstandings.
Key Differences:
-
Students do not know their individual scores prior to completing C-Notes.
-
Students may use their class notes during the activity.
-
Feedback from choice checks or incorrect responses is provided at the teacher’s discretion.
The team’s final responses are scored, and the teacher reviews the results to determine each student’s final grade while identifying areas that may need additional instruction.
C-Notes supports teachers in meeting board policies that require students to review and interpret assessment results in class. It also helps reduce the need for retesting and lowers failure rates.
